The German edition of the renowned innovation magazine Technology Review has announced the best “Innovators under 35” for 2019. The contest seeks young pioneers who are breaking new ground and strive to shape the future with their innovations in natural science, engineering and computer science. All of the innovators awarded by the German edition are automatically nominated for the global contest by the American MIT Technology Review.
Three ESA BIC Bavaria incubatees are among this year’s 10 winners:
Michael Baumann (30): Twaice leverages digital twins to optimise batteries for enterprises across industries. Digital twins are virtual simulations of physical assets which integrate physical realities and data-model predictions. Their insights prolong product lifetimes and enable battery manufacturers to save costs.
Miriam Haerst (32): Kumovis develops 3D-printing systems for medical applications. Its system is designed to manufacture a wide variety of medical products, starting from prototyping up to personalised human implants.
Daniel Metzler (27): Isar Aerospace Technologies is building a small launch vehicle to complement Europe’s existing medium and large launcher options. It is thus perfectly suited for cube and nano satellite constellations that require small and proportionately low-cost launchers. Its rocket engine is built with a 3D printer.
