The EO Excellence Award is a tribute to groundbreaking innovation and exceptional achievements in Earth observation. It stands as a symbol of excellence, recognising the trailblazing efforts of forward-thinking researchers, scientists, and visionaries who have revolutionised the landscape of Earth observation.
In the latest round of the EO Excellence Award, 29 young scientists and teams have been nominated for their remarkable contributions to the EO field. The balance between individual and team was almost equal this year.
This year more than half of the nominees came from Germany and France. However, this year’s winner comes from Wales, United Kingdom.
Due to the exceptional quality of the nominations, the selection process was a challenge. After a thorough evaluation by the European Space Science Committee (ESSC) of the European Science Foundation, the winner and two runners-up were selected.
Congratulations to this year’s winner Dr Iestyn Woolway, Bangor University, Wales, United Kingdom and the two outstanding runners-up Dr Luke Brown, University of Salford, United Kingdom, and Dr Marcello Passaro, Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany.
