The nomination phase for the fifth round of the EO Excellence Award opened on 10 September 2025.
This year, European Space Agency (ESA) is once again looking for early-career scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the innovative use of Earth observation (EO), with a focus on the use of data from European satellites. This award recognises those who are at the forefront of understanding and leveraging EO to address global challenges and drive scientific progress.
This is your chance to showcase your groundbreaking research, or to shine a light on a pioneering talent in the field.
Submit your nomination now and step into the spotlight of excellence in Earth observation.
ESA invites scientists and research teams from across Europe to join us on this exciting journey!
Nominations may be made by the researchers themselves, or by a mentor or a supporter. The prestigious award includes research grants of up to 35,000 Euro for the individual winner and up to 65,000 Euro for the winning team.
Last year’s winners, Dr Marcello Passaro and the Decentralised Damage Mapping Group (DDMG), are using their grants to advance their research across a range of innovative areas. New equipment, running workshops and even supporting research stays abroad are just a few examples of how the prize could be used.
