ESA BIC Bavaria incubatee Isar Aerospace Technologies aims to revolutionise access to space and to make it affordable for everybody. Following a multi-million euro seed round in summer 2018, the space company has just secured 17 million dollars of Series A funding led by Earlybird and Airbus Ventures. Existing investors Vito Ventures and UVC Partners participated in the round alongside Bulent Altan, who served at SpaceX for 12 years, including as Vice President, as well as Christian Angermayer’s Apeiron Investment Group.
The fast-growing company develops advanced launch vehicles to ensure low-cost and flexible space access for small satellites in the future. Environmentally friendly propellants as well as modern production techniques are used to achieve this goal. The team builds upon extensive experience in rocket engine and sounding rocket design and testing from the Technical University of Munich.
Isar Aerospace has been part of the ESA BIC Bavaria programme, which provided initial funding to the company, since 2017.
