House Raising Ceremony: Pschierer Visited AZO and ESA BIC Companies

Today the state secretary Franz Josef Pschierer visited the house raising ceremony of ASTO Park Hotel Courtyard by Marriott. The event included a demonstration area showcasing – amongst other companies – ESA BIC Bavaria and the startups Lilium, Quantum Systems, Vectoflow and ViaLight.

Ever since its foundation in 2004, AZO – the spin-off of DLR, has supported young companies to establish their business ideas in the market. AZO manages the ESA BIC Bavaria, one of the most successful incubators with 123 supported startups generating over EUR 140 million annual turnover.

The ESA BIC Bavaria seeks entrepreneurs using space technologies in a non-space environment. That does not mean rocket science, but applies to multiple application fields such as navigation and positioning, communications techniques, Earth observation, materials, processes, signals or robotics.

The startups Lilium GmbH and ViaLight Communications GmbH are already ESA BIC Bavaria alumni, Quantum Systems GmbH and Vectoflow GmbH are undergoing incubation at ESA Business Incubation Centre Bavaria in Oberpfaffenhofen for two years. The high-flying startups presented their future-oriented applications and products to the state secretary and the visitors.
