ESA BIC incubatees KEWAZO and Kumovis are among the winners of the first phase of the Munich Business Plan Competition (MBPW) from BayStartUP.
KEWAZO is developing a smart robotic scaffolding transportation system. The intelligent robot system enables the flexible, cost-efficient and safe transport of scaffolding parts during installation. In contrast to existing solutions, the robot system only requires two workers for assembling and is able to transport the parts not only vertically but also horizontally. The solution enables customers to save at least 33% of labour costs and therefore covers more projects per year. In addition, the solution increases assembly speed by 42% and offers increased security, flexibility and data evaluation.
Kumovis develops 3D printers that are specially tailored to medical requirements. The focus lies on the processing of the high-performance polymer PEEK, which has already become established in medical technology and is approved for the manufacture of implants. The integration of a unique air duct including filters makes a clean room environment possible within the available space.
The 10 winning teams mainly concern themselves with innovations in the fields of high-tech, life science and communications technology. They will each receive 500 euros of prize money. The application phase for phase 2 will run until 20 March 2018.
